PAGANINI ON THE ROAD

Now in its 18th edition, the "Niccolò Paganini Guitar Festival" organized by the Parma Concert Society in collaboration with the Culture Department of the Municipality of Parma and the Casa della Musica, is an event entirely dedicated to the unforgettable master of violin and very skilled guitarist.
From May 22nd to 27th of this year, the Maestro's music will resonate throughout the city of Parma, thanks to internationally renowned guitarists, young talents and master violin makers. Not only concerts in fact, but also a competition for young musicians, the "Young Talent Competitions", exhibitions and seminars.

In anticipation of this important event, will begin on May 3rd the "Paganini on the Road" festival: eight free concerts between Austria and Parma in eight different paganinian locations, where the sound of the guitar will be the undisputed protagonist.

The inaugural concert will be held at Palazzo Metternich, home of the Italian Embassy in Wien, the Austrian capital that welcomed no less than 20 Paganini performances. Domenico Mottola, winner of the last edition of the "Niccolò Paganini Guitar Festival", will perform with Cecilia Ziano (violin) and Giovanni Gnocchi (cello) in an event included in the European Paganini Route, a project that collects events and places in Europe related to the best known violinist of all time. Among the prestigious locations of the Paganini On The Road 2018, also the Church of the former Convent of San Cristoforo, now home to Impresa Pizzarotti and Fondazione Pizzarotti, with the performance of the young Croatian guitarist Ana Čižmek, on May 19 at 6pm

Born in 1988, Ana has participated in numerous competitions since the beginning of her career, winning national and international prizes for solo and chamber performances, among which some of particular importance. He also participated in master classes in Croatia, Italy and Spain held by renowned masters such as Pavel Steidl, Leo Brouwer, Zoran Dukić, Lukasz Kuropaczewski, Carlo Marchione, Darko Petrinjak and Lorenzo Micheli.
In addition to holding numerous solo concerts in Croatia and Italy, Ana has won a scholarship from the city of Zagreb and the Academy Award for chamber music.

At the link below are the other dates of the “Paganini On the Road 2018”: the Reggia di Colorno with the duo Francesco Bagnasco (violin) and Fabio De Lorenzo (guitar), the Teatro Farnese with Marco Piperno, Palazzo Soragna with the Trio Schau (guitar, flute, English horn), the Rocca di Sala Baganza and the Casa della Musica, until the final concert on Sunday 10 June at the Palazzo Ducale del Giardino, where the Duo Garcia (guitars) will delight the audience with music by Paganini, Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Carulli.

All events will be free of charge, except for the concert of 12/5 which includes entry of € 6 also valid for the visit of the Monumental Complex of Pilotta, which can be purchased at the ticket office of the Complex.
